BBQ & Smokehouses

Packaging for BBQ Joints and Smokehouses

Barbecue is one of the hardest foods to package. It is hot, heavy and wet with sauce and rendered fat, and the packaging has to survive a drive home without going translucent or coming apart at the seam.

That puts grease-resistant paper at the centre of the range. Food wrapping paper is the heaviest of the five printed papers and is built for oilier items; standard wax paper is the grease-resistant workhorse for lining trays and baskets. Both come in eight sizes from 6" x 6" up to 14" x 18", at 400 sheets per bundle.

For plated portions, takeout containers come in 32oz and 48oz with the lid included — the 48oz takes a meat portion with sides without forcing a second container. They ship 75 per bundle with a 4-bundle minimum.

Large orders go into catering cases and trays: half tray at 13.5" x 11" x 3" and full tray at 21.5" x 13.5" x 3", 50 per bundle with a 5-bundle minimum. Party catering cases start lower at 3 bundles of 25 if catering is only part of the business. Artwork setup is $75 once per order.

Packaging for BBQ Joints and Smokehouses — Common Questions

What packaging holds up to sauced barbecue?
The grease-resistant papers. Food wrapping paper is the heaviest of the printed line and is made for oily food; wax paper handles tray and basket lining. Both come in eight sizes at 400 sheets per bundle.
Which container size suits a barbecue plate?
The 48oz Large takes a meat portion with sides in one container. The 32oz Medium suits a single entrée or a sandwich plate. Both include the lid, so there is no separate lid order to manage.
What is the minimum order for a single smokehouse?
Containers start at 4 bundles of 75. Printed papers start at 5 bundles of 400, or a single 400-sheet bundle on the low-minimum wax paper. Catering cases start at 5 bundles of 50, or 3 bundles of 25 for party cases.
Can I print catering and counter packaging on one order?
Yes. The $75 artwork setup is charged once per order rather than once per item, so papers, containers and catering cases on the same order share a single setup fee.
How long does an order take?
Around 10 business days for production and delivery. Boxes and cases ship flat and shrink-wrapped.
