Packaging for Bakeries and Pastry Shops

A bakery counter sells more than one format, and the packaging usually shows it — a branded cake box sitting next to plain white pastry boxes and unmarked bags. The range here is built so one design can cover the whole counter instead of only the largest box.

Bakery boxes run to twenty-four sizes, starting at 5.5" x 2.75" x 4" for a single slice or pastry and climbing through the 8", 10" and 12" cake footprints to a 1/4 sheet box. White gives the cleanest surface for full-colour artwork behind glass; kraft suits a natural, one-colour mark. Bundles hold 50 to 100 boxes with a 5-bundle minimum.

For counter items, bakery bags ship 400 per bundle with a 3-bundle minimum, and printed wax or deli paper lines trays and wraps pastries at 400 sheets per bundle across eight sizes. If you also sell coffee, single wall hot cups start at 3 cases of 700 and double wall at 260 per case.

The artwork setup is $75 once per order rather than once per size, so printing a matched set across boxes, bags and paper on a single order costs less than ordering them piece by piece. Production and delivery run around 10 business days.

Packaging for Bakeries and Pastry Shops — Common Questions

What packaging should a bakery print first?
Most bakeries start with the two or three box sizes that leave the counter most often, then add bags and printed sheets. Because the $75 artwork setup is charged once per order, adding those items to the same order costs far less than a second run.
What is the smallest bakery box you print?
5.5" x 2.75" x 4", sized for a single slice or an individual pastry. The range runs from there up to a 1/4 sheet cake box across twenty-four sizes.
What is the minimum order for a small bakery?
5 bundles for bakery boxes, at 50 to 100 boxes per bundle depending on size. Bakery bags and printed paper start at 3 bundles of 400.
Should a bakery choose white or kraft boxes?
White holds full-colour artwork and photography best and reads crisply in a lit display case. Kraft suits artisanal branding and one- or two-colour logos. Both are available across all twenty-four sizes.
How far ahead of a busy season should I order?
Around 10 business days is typical for production and delivery, so order ahead of a season rather than into it. Reorders of artwork already on file skip the setup and proofing step.
